Bess Abrahams, LCSW, PPCC, EYRT-500

(she/her)

I am a licensed social worker leading with an intersectional feminist and anti-oppressive lens and I use a relational, strength-based, integrative approach alongside concrete solution-focused therapy techniques to help my clients meet their stated goals. Always cognizant of context and culture and the systemic factors that shape our experiences, I have over 20 years of experience with children and teens in a variety of roles. I came to psychotherapy as a mid-life career change after working in palliative and end-of-life care at a children’s hospital as a mind-body interventionist. My goal is to co-create an environment where each client can safely explore, retrace, unfold and become settled in self-states that feel congruent and to make change in the world. I am not afraid to bring love, humor, creativity and play into the therapeutic process. I work with children, adolescents and adults.

I earned my social work degree from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College and hold a BA from Oberlin College in Political Science and Women’s Studies. I also a certified yoga therapist and have conducted and published research on yoga for symptom management for children with Sickle Cell Anemia and cancer. I am also a 2022 candidate for advanced certificate in pediatric palliative care from the UW school of medicine.
