Taking the step to complete ADHD testing is a moment of courage and commitment, whether it’s for yourself or your child. It means seeking real understanding—and often, after the appointments and assessments are finished, the big question is: what happens now? The period after testing can feel uncertain, and it’s completely normal to have questions about what comes next.

This guide is designed to walk you through the next phase: how your results are explained, what an ADHD diagnosis truly means, and how a treatment or support plan is developed. At Mind Body Seven, our aim isn’t just to give you a label, but to offer meaningful clarity and help you move forward with confidence and support. Let’s demystify the next steps together, so you know what to expect and can focus on feeling empowered.

Understanding What Comes After ADHD Testing

Completing an ADHD evaluation is only part of your journey. What follows is equally important and filled with possibility. This time is about turning your evaluation results into a clear path—so you can move from questions and waiting, to understanding and action. We strive to make sure this transition is collaborative, informative, and supportive at every step.

If you’re feeling anxious or uncertain, remember: the purpose of your evaluation is to provide answers—not judgments. Whether you receive a diagnosis of ADHD or learn something different about your brain and behavior, you’ll walk away with direction and a plan tailored to your unique strengths and needs. The end of testing is really the beginning of a more informed chapter in your care.

Step 1 – Reviewing Your ADHD Test Results

After your evaluation is complete, you’ll meet with your clinician to go over the results. This feedback session is your opportunity to ask questions and really understand your assessment findings. It’s much more than a quick phone call or a standardized printout. We see this as a dialogue: your story matters, and so does making sense of the data together.

During this meeting, we’ll review a comprehensive report that typically includes:

  • Your Creyos cognitive scores: We’ll explain how you performed on computer-based attention, memory, and impulse control tasks—and what those results mean for you in daily life.
  • Questionnaires and interview highlights: Together, we’ll connect your ratings and interview experiences to the bigger clinical picture, so you can see how everything fits.
  • Diagnostic criteria explanation: We’ll be clear about whether you meet criteria for ADHD and share the clinical reasoning behind any diagnosis.

Our goal is for you to leave this session with clarity about your results—and reassurance that you are fully seen and understood.

How Creyos Data Helps Clarify Results

Objective information from the Creyos cognitive platform adds important depth to your evaluation. Instead of relying solely on self-reported experiences, Creyos gives us real data on how your brain works day to day—because seeing your performance on attention, working memory, and impulse control tasks can often bring deeper understanding (and relief).

For instance, if multi-step tasks leave you frustrated or easily distracted, it’s powerful to view a cognitive report that validates your experience with numbers and visuals. These metrics help translate your history into actionable insights. Using both subjective and objective evaluation tools, we’re able to see the full picture and create recommendations that feel relevant to your life.

Step 2 – Getting Your Diagnosis (If Applicable)

If your results indicate ADHD, your clinician will walk you through what this means with care and clarity. ADHD is a medical term—not a judgment or a limitation. Receiving a diagnosis is about gaining understanding, and creating a new way to approach the challenges you face. Together, we’ll discuss the specific type and level of ADHD, from mild to severe, based on your symptoms and how much they impact you day to day.

It’s also common for people with ADHD to experience conditions like anxiety, depression, or learning differences. If those show up in your evaluation, we address them as part of a comprehensive plan—not in isolation. Our focus is always on validating your experience, reducing self-blame, and offering a path forward that speaks to you as a whole person—not just a diagnosis.

Above all, an ADHD diagnosis is an invitation to get the right support, not a reason to doubt yourself.

Step 3 – Creating a Personalized ADHD Treatment Plan

The next step is building a treatment plan that fits your strengths, lifestyle, and goals. We know that no two people have the same experience of ADHD, so we design recommendations that are truly individualized.

At Mind Body Seven, we use an integrative approach. Your plan might include medical, behavioral, and lifestyle components, developed with collaboration between you and your care team.

Medication Management

ADHD medications, both stimulant and non-stimulant, are powerful tools for many. If medication is right for you, your psychiatrist or nurse practitioner will discuss the options and partner with you in finding the best fit, with regular check-ins to monitor your progress and address any questions along the way. This is a collaborative, transparent process where your voice and choices matter.

Therapy and Coaching

Skills and strategies can be just as transformative as medication. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for ADHD, practical skills coaching, and executive function work all help you build new habits and respond more effectively to life’s challenges. If you struggle with organization, time management, emotional regulation, or self-esteem, therapy and coaching provide structured support and a toolkit for daily life.

  • CBT for ADHD: Helps shift unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors.
  • ADHD Coaching: Focuses on real-world skills like planning, prioritizing, and breaking big tasks into manageable steps.

Lifestyle and Integrative Approaches

Long-term ADHD success goes beyond medication and therapy. We view your health holistically—from sleep, nutrition, and movement to mindfulness and stress management, every area plays a role. We’ll provide recommendations tailored to your routines and needs, helping you set up habits that make life smoother, more focused, and more enjoyable.

  • Nutrition advice: Foods that support sustained energy and mood.
  • Sleep hygiene: How rest impacts attention and self-control.
  • Physical activity: How exercise bolsters brain function.
  • Mindfulness: Practical tools to help manage distraction and increase calm.

Step 4 – Tracking Progress Over Time

ADHD care is a process, not a one-time event. We’ll schedule regular check-ins to see how you’re responding to your plan, celebrate wins, and troubleshoot any new challenges. You are always a collaborator in your journey—your feedback drives how we adjust and improve your plan.

Sometimes, we’ll recommend repeating Creyos cognitive testing to measure concrete changes and spot trends over time. Progress tracking isn’t just about numbers—it’s about making sure that the strategies and interventions are helping you move toward your version of success.

What If ADHD Testing Shows Something Else?

Testing may reveal a different diagnosis, such as anxiety, depression, or trauma as the main reason for attention or executive function challenges. That outcome is not a setback—it’s a step toward clarity. Understanding the true root cause means you can focus on the therapies and supports most likely to help you feel better.

Even if ADHD isn’t the answer, the insights gained from thorough evaluation are invaluable. They point you toward the appropriate next steps and support, helping you find the right fit for your needs.

Common Questions About What Happens After ADHD Testing

When will I get my results?
Most of our clients schedule their feedback sessions within one to two weeks after completing their assessment.

What if I don’t have ADHD—what happens then?
If your evaluation points to another concern, your clinician will recommend a treatment plan tailored to what is most helpful for you. Our team is here to support you, whatever the results reveal.

How soon can I start treatment?
You can often begin treatment immediately following your feedback session. Medication, therapy, and/or coaching are available as soon as you’re ready.

Will I need retesting in the future?
Retesting is sometimes needed for academic or workplace documentation, or to measure progress. Your clinician will discuss if and when repeating parts of your assessment makes sense.

Whether you’ve just finished ADHD testing or are still considering starting, know that support and clarity are within reach. Our Mind Body Seven team is here to help you understand your results, create a customized plan, and move forward with renewed confidence.
