STEPHEN LEWIS LMHC
Stephen Lewis is a psychotherapist with offices in Manhattan and Brooklyn. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Brown University and studied Philosophy of Mind and Eastern Psychology at Oxford University. Stephen completed a master’s degree in mental health counseling at NYU. He did his clinical training in the inpatient and outpatient psychiatric units at Bellevue Medical Center in New York, where he was trained in cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, psychodynamics, gestalt psychotherapy, and mindfulness-based stress reduction. He continued his education in addition to clinical practice and received a second masters degree in Mind Body Medicine from Saybrook University.
After becoming a certified yoga instructor and yoga therapist and training in Ayurveda, Stephen gained extensive experience applying mind-body approaches to treat mental health concerns in a variety of settings. Stephen integrates elements of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, yoga, hypnosis, guided imagery, coaching and life design. By blending ancient holistic medicine approaches with modern psychotherapy, Stephen supports his clients in reaching optimal wellness, maintaining balance, and finding contentment in life.
Stephen works with individuals with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, trauma, grief, OCD, ruminative thoughts, difficulties in dating and relationships, and life transitions (graduating from college or graduate school, career transitions, marriage and having children, divorces and other). Stephen has extensive experience in working with men on concerns related to men's health and sexuality.
Stephen works with individuals one on one, and also enjoys working with couples.
